The Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Genetics Laboratory at GeneAidyx LLC is an international reference laboratory for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin level, phenotype and genotype analysis.
Perform simple and complex analysis on blood and DNA samples using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods, and procedures.
Assume accountability for patient tests by providing a high standard of quality using independent judgment during performance of standard operating procedures using complex instrumentation.
Read, understand and follow applicable standard operating procedures.
Perform data entry, specimen processing, and analytical testing.
Ensure client turn-around-times are met.
Perform equipment maintenance, calibration, QC, and proficiency testing.
Track client sample and result information.
Evaluate new products.
Conduct training as required.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology; or Bachelor's Degree and one year as a Medical Laboratory Technician; or 90 semester hours of science and completion of an AHCA approved training program; or, Associate's Degree and appropriate combination of training and experience.
Knowledge of routine laboratory equipment and procedures
Experience performing moderate to high complexity testing, e.g. PCR/DNA analysis, IEF, and nephelometry
Commitment to service, quality, and laboratory accuracy
Ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills
Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent and valid Florida State Clinical Lab Technologist license in all areas applicable (Clinical Chemistry/Serology preferred, Molecular required).
Salary commensurate with experience
40 hours per week
Schedule details: Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4:30pm.
