Founders

The Alpha-1 Genetics Laboratory was founded in 1988 at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. In 1998 the Alpha-1 Research Program was established at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. In 2014 the Alpha-1 Diagnostic Laboratory from the University of Florida expanded into GeneAidyx LLC in Alachua, Florida.

GeneAidyx founders, Dr. Mark Brantly and Farshid Rouhani, have over 50 years of combined experience in Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency research and diagnostics. They have published over 120 papers about Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in accredited journals and have presented their work at over 100 national and international conferences.
